Garden Table Plan
Sketch for garden table.

Don’t try this at home…
(An excerpt from my blog coming tomorrow 02/04/10 - with more photos.)

…. 'Cause it won’t work very well.

I finally caved in and did what all the other display designers do: mix everything up for showtime!

So, I’ve got full sun plants right next to shade plants.

I’ve got plants that love water next to plants that don’t.

I’ve completely over-planted the garden table in the display and it probably won’t last until June if it does stay together.

And, I’ve compromised the roots on most plants in order to get it onto the table!!

BUT, at least I didn't include indoor plants with the outdoor plants!

Yea, I broke most of the cardinal rules.

And I'm not sure I like it.

I normally try to match the plants within the container but I thought it was about time that I get a bit more creative – and I think that’s the only points I’ll get on this display! (Lol!)

It was fun to toss aside the golden rule of “right plant, right place” out the window, but it kinda took away the challenge of it all. I think being an avid gardener, I am obviously head over heels for the plants, but I really enjoy the geeky-ness of “figuring it out” too. If every plant worked with every other plant, I think gardening would be a bit boring.

Here’s a list of the plants I used for the garden table for this display, use the map above to help you place them. I'll have more photos up on my blog tomorrow with the true miniature plants tagged and photographed:
