Marie's Miniature Oz Garden
A blog post explaining how we came up with this design is here.

A parking strip turned into "Oz". The garden goes through the stages of
the movie, Wizard of Oz. It starts at Dorothy's house, through the
apple orchard, the forest, then the wicked forest, the Emerald City and
back to Kansas. (See below) |

That's the post where Dorothy found the Scarecrow. It was fun going through the movie to see what scenes we could pick up on.
We're still sourcing out Dorothy's house - meanwhile, we're using a birdhouse...
It's now into its second year as we find out what plants work best for the strip.

Marie has a lot of fun with her Oz. It's filled with little props from the movie.
At right: We planted ground covers to mimic the farmers fields of Kansas at the the opposite end of the garden.
It's an ongoing project as we're letting it grow in in stages. The
biggest hurdle has been the slope that it's on - it's Seattle after
all. If it was on level ground, the watering would have been much easier and the plants happier.
That's Lake Washington in the background.
